Celebrate International Babywearing Week (IBW) with babywearing
groups around the world! This year’s theme is Share the Adventure!
International Babywearing Week is an annual outreach event
sponsored by Babywearing International. It is a week-long opportunity to
celebrate, promote, advocate for, and focus media attention on the many
benefits of babywearing. Locally, we celebrate International Babywearing Week
through a series of events throughout the Greater Burlington area.
2014 International Babywearing Week Raffles
This year we’ll be having an amazing raffle.
Our generous 2014 sponsors have donated over $3,000 worth of great
prizes, and we will be previewing them in the weeks to come on this blog, so
check in often! The raffle will be held on Saturday, October 11 at our main
event. Raffle tickets will be $1 each, or may be purchased in sets: $5 for 6,
$10 for 12, $20 for 25, $50 for 65, $75 for 100, $100 for 140. You do not need
to present to win prizes. Tickets go on sale at our meeting this Saturday, the 13th.
2014 International Babywearing Week Events
Shout it Out Sunday (October 5):
IBW Kickoff:
Photo Scavenger Hunt Bingo.
Grab your friends and a Photo Scavenger Hunt Bingo Card for
some babywearing fun! Choose your own location, post pictures to our group page
on Facebook, fill out as much of your card as possible, and remember to hashtag
#IntlBabywearingWeek #bwiburl.
Online: Shout it all the way to the roof-tops
(or Twitter, Instagram or Facebook!): we love babywearing! What role has the
internet and social media played in your babywearing experience? What can you
do today to be heard (and seen) in your community? Post a shout out or photo,
and don’t forget the hashtags! #IntlBabywearingWeek #bwiburl
Model Monday (October 6):
Start your week off feeling like the gorgeous babywearing
model that you are. Jolly Fox Photography has generously offered her time to
take some babywearing photos for our group! This is a first come, first serve event. If you bring a lunch, there are lots of great spots to sit and eat. Also, Ali and Amanda will be available to help perfect your carry if needed.

Throwback Tuesday (October 7):

Share pictures of your first time wearing or a favorite
babywearing memory. We will be posting several “first” threads in the group, so
stay tuned!
Work it Out Wednesday (October 8):
Join us for a walk through LaPlatte River Marsh Natural
Area. It’s a perfect event for babywearing, because the trails are not very
stroller-friendly.

Whether it’s at your full or part-time job, school or around the house, how
does babywearing help you get work done? Let’s see pictures!
Teach Me Thursday (October 9):
Join us for a Babywearing 101 workshop led by our
babywearing educators. Bring a friend to earn a free ticket for the raffle!
Online: Learn a new carry and show it off with a
babywearing selfie!
Flexible Friday (October 10):

What adventures have you had that might not be possible
without babywearing? Hiked a mountain? Walked the beach? Played with older children
while caring for a newborn? Simply survived the grocery store with multiple children?
Share pictures and your experiences.
Share Your City Saturday (October 11):
Our main event is a can’t-miss event and fun for the whole
family! Games, activities, babywearing demos, and a chance to win prizes from
our amazing raffle!
Online: Show the rest of the babywearing world
the adventures you can share in your community. Post pictures from this week’s
IBW events, babywearing photos with your friends or babywearing photos from
local landmarks.
